From a little chapel in 1972 to a thriving parish family - this is our story.
Many years ago, way back in the 70’s, a little chapel was built within the school premises on the mud roads of Vazira Naka. The chapel was there to fulfill the spiritual needs of the students and the few Catholics that stayed around the locality.
The place was christened St. John Bosco Chapel and was canonically erected in 1972. We were no more just a chapel but a church — and our community was overjoyed when the Archdiocese of Bombay officially recognised us as St. John Bosco Parish in the year 2001.
In the name of our Patron Saint, St. John Bosco, it is our pleasure to welcome you to our parish family.
We will deepen family life by fostering close relationships between spouses, helping youth to prioritise social and spiritual values, involving parents and children in faith formation, and reaching out to the marginalised.
We commit ourselves to build up our families holistically — especially our youth and the marginalised.
As a parish of the Salesians of Don Bosco, we walk in the footsteps of our founder — a father and teacher of the young, with a special love for those most in need.
“Do whatever He tells you.” — Strenna 2026 · Mary at the Wedding at Cana
The Strenna is the annual theme the Rector Major of the Salesians offers to the whole Salesian Family across the world. For 2026, Fr Fabio Attard invites us into Mary’s words at the Wedding at Cana — “Do whatever He tells you” — a call to deepen our faith in Jesus, trust Him completely, and serve others, especially the young, with generosity and love.
The Strenna also marks the 150th anniversary of the Salesian Cooperators, encouraging the whole Salesian Family to keep Don Bosco’s dream alive through faith, freedom and loving service.

The Strenna 2026 unfolds in four steps that shape how we live our faith day to day.
Be attentive to the realities around us, as Mary was at Cana — recognising the needs of others and responding with compassion rather than indifference.
Deepen our relationship with Christ through prayer, Scripture and discernment, so that our actions are guided by God’s will and not merely by human reasoning.
Freely choose to follow Jesus with courage and trust, letting His Word shape our decisions and mission — even when it challenges our comfort.
Serve with joy, generosity and selflessness, becoming co-workers in God’s mission to bring hope, dignity and love to young people and those in need.
